Rural Fire Service crews first received reports of fire around 2.30pm Friday, September 14.
The fire is currently burning to the east of Tomerong Creek at the back of Erowal Bay, and no property is at threat.
There is no vehicle access to the fire, and RFS crews are currently trying to work out containment options.
About 20 personnel from St Georges Basin, Crossroads, Tomerong and Huskisson brigades are on scene.
Shoalhaven RFS district officer Bradley Collins said crews were working to control the fire before tomorrow, due to the severe conditions ahead.
The RFS has issued a total fire ban for the Shoalhaven region commencing tomorrow. Fire permits will be suspended from midnight tonight (Friday, September 14).
More to come.
