More fun, more action with junior cricket changes

Cricket season is just around the corner with some exciting changes for our girls and boys junior cricketers.

The new Woolworths Junior and Master Blaster programs are teaching catching, batting and bowling skills, reinforced in short games.

Practising skills: Matthew Page fields with Abbey Crapp backing up.

Cricket Australia’s Junior Formats Stage 1 and Stage 2 are being implemented where everyone bats, bowls and rotates in the field.

Stage 1 (under 11s) has seven a side, a 16-metre pitch, played over 20 overs.

Stage 2 (under 12s) has nine a side, an 18-metre pitch played over 30 overs.

The games are shorter with more action.

Under 14s and Under 16s competitions are being redesigned to play more T20 games.
