Kid get a taste of baseball at Come and Try Day

The sun came out for Shoalhaven Mariners’ second Come and Try T-Ball and Junior Baseball day down at Ison Park, South Nowra.

We began the day off with a light warm-up to stretch those little muscles before dividing into designated stations with our coaches.

They all had a chance to start and learn the correct techniques of how we catch and field the ball correctly without causing harm.

Another station was all about lining the T-ball up and hitting on target, teaching them it’s not always about how far we can hit the ball but more about our hand eye co-ordination to make the ball go where we are aiming.

We then had a break for all the children and parents to mingle and enjoy a sausage sandwich and fruit kababs while watching Cardinals/ Pirates/Chiefs semi-finals being played on the main field.

After lunch we enjoyed learning how to pitch correctly followed by a game simulation between children/parents/coaches.

Shoalhaven Mariners Baseball Association are now taking registrations  for our inter-club competition. We are looking for boys and girls  aged 4-14 years of all skill levels. We are also looking for more players for our under 14s travelling team which will play other teams around the Illawarra on a Sunday morning.

A big thanks goes to our returning players Mitchell Parrott, Lochlan Quiney and Cameron Goulden for showing the newcomers how much fun it can be playing baseball for the Mariners.
