A NUMBER of the Shoalhaven top up and coming cricketers will get the chance to compete against the best players from all over the state, after being selected in their respective Greater Illawarra Zone teams.

Bomaderry’s Jackson Ingram, Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Matthew Page and North Nowra-Cambewarra’s Lucas Zerafa are in the 12-person under 12s Arch Cawsey Shield team, which will start their assault in the NSW Districts Cricket Association on October 21 – playing teams from Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and Australian Capital Territory.
The trio are joined by South Coast duo Kasey Barton and Blake Mackrell and Illawarra’s Blake Cattle, Josh Garnero, Jake Brown, Finn Warburton, Alby Ferguson, Logan Jensen and Noah Fien in the team.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Campbell Bramley has been named as one of two shadow players, along with Illawarra’s Riley Broadhead.
The team will be coached by Illawarra’s Brett Ferguson, with Bomaderry’s Brad Ingram as manager.
While in the Greater Illawarra Zone under 13s Gee Shield team, Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens’ Matthew Higham is the lone Shoalhaven representative.
He will be joined in the team, which will be coached by Dan Abela (Illawarra), assistant coached by Chris Bramble (South Coast) and managed by Anthony Campbell (Illawarra), by Illawarra’s Nicholas Nicastri, Bailey Abela, Ryan Cattle, Kias Thompson, Euan Riedy, Toby Rodwell and Angus Campbell, South Coast’s Luke Bramble, Isaac Laughton and Jake Monie, as well as Highlands James Smith.
Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ Tom Fletcher and South Coast’s Will Speering are the two shadow players.
Finally, Batemans Bay’s Ryan Hall is the only Shoalhaven player named in the Greater Illawarra Zone under 16s Watson Shield team.
The other 11 players in the squad with Hall are Illawarra’s Jayden Zahra-Smith, Daniel Wark, Sam Hobson, Harry Hobson, Matt Garnero, Connor Gray and Jamie Phillipson, South Coast’s Jack McDonald, Blake Smith and Cade Hotham and Highlands’ Zac de Hosson.
Illawarra’s Isaac Warburton is the shadow player, for the team coached by Illawarra’s Toby Dodds – with James Hobson (Illawarra) and Mitch Calder (Illawarra) as assistant coaches and Graeme Phillipson (Illawarra) manager.
The under 14s Harold Moore Shield and under 15s EG Weblin Shield squads are still currently trialling, with teams set to be announced on September 10.
