Spring offers a celebration of local talent at the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery.
The Shoalhaven Art Society 53rd Annual Open Art Competition is now showing until September 8.
This showcase of skilled painters offers a wide variety of subject matter and styles, and this year includes a new junior section, celebrating artists between the ages of 12-18.
There were a number of winners in several categories. Best in Show went to Peter Stathers for Walk by the River.
The expertise of the community continues to be on display into September with Creative Moments, a joint exhibition of the Shoalhaven Woodcraft Society, Nowra Spinners and Weavers and the Shoalhaven Potters.
This is also a great opportunity to get started on Christmas shopping, with unique, handcrafted items available to purchase through the exhibition or in the point of sale gallery.
On Saturday, September 22 between 10am and 2pm join the artisans for a day of live demonstrations including wood turning, wool spinning and weaving and potters throwing on the wheel on the gallery forecourt.
From September 15 the gallery is thrilled to welcome Lucy Culliton and Caution Wet Paint, the first exhibition of her work shown in the Shoalhaven.
Lucy is a beloved and highly acclaimed artist and the paintings of her Bibbenluke property and its animal inhabitants are sure to delight visitors of all ages.
To hear more from Lucy, come along on Saturday, September 15 from 11am to hear about the exhibition and her artistic practice.

Lunch and materials are provided. Bookings are now open at SouthCoastTickets.com.au.
There are a number of exciting ways people can get involved with the local art community at present, however these opportunities close soon.
Shoalhaven Arts Board Grants offers two grants of up to $5000 each for projects that build a sense of place for the Shoalhaven through artistic and creative collaborations, and one of up to $10,000 for projects that seek to create and install public art throughout the city.
The Laneway Panel Project calls for applications from artists and community groups to work on 10 aluminium panels waiting for engaging and accessible art. Both of these opportunities close Friday, August 31.
To see your work displayed in the gallery in 2019, Expression of Interest to Exhibit forms are due in by Monday September 3.
More information about all of these opportunities can be found at shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/My-Community/Arts.
