Gate takings, the many donations from attendees, raffles and silent auctions all went to achieving the great result.

“In addition many people dropped off non-perishable items in the ‘fill our van with a can’ promotion,” CEO Lynn Locke said.

“The generosity of people in the community was overwhelming. 

“We had great attendance and everyone was keen to raise funds to support the drought affected farmers and we can only thank all involved for their support to assist these Aussies in need.”

Many locals offered their assistance on the day to donate their time.

“It was just amazing that people contacted the club to offer their assistance, so that we did not have to pay wages and could donate more to the farmers,” Mrs Locke said.

“Even bookmaker, Adrian Dowdell, donated half of his winnings.”

The Club invited VIP guests Richard Callendar, Tommy Berry and Nick Davis to attend and patrons were keen to meet with them once again to raise funds for the farmers donating $2 for a photo to the cause.  

Local entertainers provided by Jaybees Entertainment all donated their time to perform on the race day creating a fantastic atmosphere. Purple Envy started off the day with their version of Eagle Rock which had the crowd motivated for the day. Jamie Parkinson and Rayner, Platinium Duo and Jeff Hill all joined the line up providing a variety of entertainment during the afternoon.

Activities for the children were free with jumping castle and Archer Miniature Railway offering free rides to encourage families to attend the race day.

“So many local businesses donated prizes for our raffles and auctions once again highlighting what a great community we live in,” Mrs Locke said.

“The quality of racing was fantastic with good fields and great racing.  Much to the crowd’s delight local trainer, Robert Price took out the first race to much cheering from all on course.”

The newly renovated dining room was full and host to a wonderful group of businesses who all came on board to support the race day.

The idea, which was a joint venture with Hanlon Windows and the club, was to assist local farmers who live within 100 to 150 kilometres of the Shoalhaven.  

“The club will ensure that the money raised goes back into the community by purchasing vouchers at local businesses and distributing to the farmers that have contacted us for support,” Mrs Locke said.

“We see this as a way to ensure that not only do we assist those in need but we keep the money in the local community. We feel this promotion was all about locals helping locals, and this is the best way to ensure this happens.

“The highlight of the day was the fact that it poured rain last night. What a great finale to a wonderful event.”
