The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge and also with possessing child abuse material.
Court papers said the alleged incident occurred between March 15 and April 5 last year.
In Nowra District Court, Judge Warwick Hunt sentenced the man to an aggregate sentence of three years and nine months from March 15, 2017 with a non-parole period of two years and three months.
He will be eligible for parole in June 2019.
