In junior competition news, the Under 13 girls finished off their season with a great game against second on the ladder Culburra, their 1-0 loss only occurring in the final minute of the game with a huge lob from one of Culburra’s backs.

Sophie King was spectacular in goals with her aggressive play and excellent read on the game, easily saving at least 18 shots on goal. Her performance was admired by both Basin and Culburra spectators and she will be a player to watch over the coming years.
Under 13 Boys A team had a 1-2 loss against United and now go into a sudden death semi-final against United this Saturday. The Under 13 Boys B time had a bye and finish the season in 5th position behind Callala.
The Under 15 Boys A side had a 2-0 loss against United Grizzlies last Wednesday but a thrilling 3-0 win over Husky White on Tuesday night. There will now be a tense wait throughout the week as the remaining “make up” games are played out and the boys find out if they have a place in the Finals.
The Under 15 girls have two remaining games to be played this Wednesday night against United Bears and this Saturday against Milton Panthers. They need to win at least one of these games to secure their spot in the Finals.
In senior competition news, all three Senior Ladies Basin teams will all face sudden death semi-final matches next Tuesday night. Third grade were successful in maintaining their position as 4th on the ladder with a 0-1 win over Gerringong in extremely cold and windy conditions. The girls will take on Husky in the Semi-Finals.
Reserve Grade ladies chalked up another 3 points after Milton forfeited. They finish in 4th position and will take on Illaroo in their semi-final. Ladies 1st grade had an incredible 10-0 win over Milton and finish in 3rd position on the ladder. They take on Shoalhaven Heads next Tuesday.
Over 35s have their final game of the season this Thursday against United. With a win and a goal difference of 10 points needed to secure a place in the semis, it seems the over 35s will finish out their first season in A grade in 5th position.
3rd grade men had a bye. Reserve grade had a 2-0 loss to Manyana after starting with only 10 players. First grade’s Coach Paul Cubbo reports on his team’s 3-1 loss stating that “Connor MacQueen continued his excellent season by bagging another goal with a stunning free kick from a long way out – his 14th for the season I believe. Another highlight was young Steven King’s brilliant penalty save!”
This coming week is the final home games for all three men’s grades and will feature the inaugural “Basin Gift” race - a 100-yard dash open to all registered senior players with a perpetual trophy and a cash prize on the line. Saturday is expected to be an entertaining end to what has been a fantastic Basin season.
