Creative Moments is an annual joint exhibition of the Shoalhaven Woodcraft Society, Nowra Spinners and Weavers and the Shoalhaven Potters.
The exhibition provides an opportunity for the artisans and craftspeople of these three community groups to share their gifts and talents with others, extending their enjoyment in their craft.
Maggie Cooper is part of the Nowra Spinners and Weavers and has been for many years. Having made tapestry pieces for a solid period of time, Ms Cooper said weaving was her latest love.
“I went to Japan and studied Saori weaving, which I absolutely love,” she said.
“It’s a lot more colourful and a bit less traditional.”
Saori is hand weaving that emphasises and prioritises creativity and free expression.
The philosophy behind Saori is that there are no mistakes, and every weave has its own special character.
Nowra Spinners and Weavers have been creating scarves, tapestries and needle felting and more for 40 years, and meet once a week to work on their latest projects.
“We have people who do a whole late of different things, natural dying, needle felting, we all learn a lot from each other,” Ms Cooper said.
Creative Moments will take place from September 14 to October 6.
Demonstrations from each group will be held on September 22, and the public will be able to join in.
Much of the exhibition will also be for sale.
