Finalist in: Business Leader (Naomi Dootson), Startup superstar, Excellence in Social Responsibility
Owner Naomi Dootson launched The Artisan Collective just over 12 months ago, incorporating her 13-year-old business, Appleye Jewellery Design, and the wares of a number of other local traders and artists. “The heart beat of this business is to provide the Shoalhaven a place to source quality, unique, crafted, handmade products, made by local and Australian artisans,” she said.
It’s also a place for people to get creative by joining in one of the collective’s regular silversmith workshops or other artisan workshops.

The community has certainly connected with this vision – with The Artisan Collective and Naomi herself finalists in three categories at the business awards. “I am personally humbled and encouraged that our vision has had such a great impact in our community,” she said. “The team here is thrilled. We have worked hard to create something unique and special – not just another shop. It’s an honour to be recognised for providing something positive for our area.”
The secret to their success, Naomi said was staying humble and true to the vision. “A big part of our business culture is to help others and building relationships with other businesses in our area sharing our knowledge with other budding creative business owners to help them on their journey.”
