A lovely day for those who teed off early today as the later players got to play the back nine in very windy conditions. We had a field of 39 players for today’s Par Stroke round. Today’s game went to Sandra England who came home with a +5 off an 18 handicap. Well played Sandra, a great round today in the trying conditions. Second was Kenneth Black with +3 off a 21 handicap. Third was Neil Sparks also with a +3 off a 28 handicap. Fourth was Perry Cousins with a +2 off a 20 handicap.
No one managed to get into the circle around the pin on the 11th green for the Golf Exchange prize this week and the 14th green proved elusive again.
Ball rundown was to -2 and 10 players received a ball.
Nearest the pins were: 3rd Kenneth Black. 10th Michael Inness. 11th XXXXXXXXX. 14th XXXXXXXXX. 16th Robert Ash.

Callala Veterans
Another beautiful day greeted 36 Vets for today’s Single Stableford game.
Thriving in the good conditions was Perry Cousins coming in with 41 points off a 21 handicap, 3 points clear of second placegetter Barry Jarman with 38 points off a 23 handicap. Third person home was our nonagenarian, a spritely 95 years young Frank Park with 37 points off a 36 handicap.
Frank as always brings a great attitude to the course and his great outlook and passion affects everyone in the club. He has a great way of looking at each day that we could all benefit from. As he says “as long as I’m looking down at the grass and not looking up at it, it’s a great day!”
Fourth place went to one of our Octagenarians, 84 yr old Barrie Faulkner, who was once one of Franks apprentices!! with 36 points off a 23 handicap.

On behalf of Shoalhaven District Tennis Association we would like to send a huge thank you to the RFS. Without their dedication and bravery we would not have a clubhouse or any courts to play on. This week’s bushfires have burnt right to the fences on most of our courts. We really thought we had lost the lot. Thanks also to our vice president Col Armstrong for his assistance.
