U16 Boys, U18 Boys and Youth Men ventured to Moss Vale where a cold start to the day was quickly replaced by hot action on court as Shoalhaven matched up against Milton-Ulladulla. Incredibly close scores each quarter were not enough for the Tigers to hold on and Milton-Ulladulla, eventual Conference Champions, took the win 54-49.
Our U18 Boys came up against a regular competitor in the Illawarra Hawks. Having met at each round of Barrengarry, and at Country Tournament, the boys were determined to turn their Country loss into a Conference win. Despite the score seesawing between the two teams, the Tigers gave it everything they had left, but even the knowledge of the great win by the Waratah Youth League Men over Illawarra just minutes before, couldn't give them the rally they needed in the final minute and they fell short by just 3 points, going down to Conference Champions Illawarra 39-42.
Shoalhaven's last hope for another Conference crown (our U14 Girls were crowned champions last weekend) fell to our U16/18 Girls. A very comfortable win to Shoalhaven in the opening semi-final against Illawarra, 67-12, set the girls up for a grand final berth against Moss Vale, who took the win in semi-final 2 from Milton-Ulladulla by a point. Our girls were outscored in all of the first three quarters, before a late rally in the fourth held Moss Vale to just 2 points. But it was not enough for the girls to take the title of Conference Champion, which went to Moss Vale with a 21-12 victory.
