Residents living west of Burrill Lake and along Woodstock Road are urged to have their bush fire survival plan ready as firefighters continue to battle the Kingiman fire.
Those on the frontline were on Friday working hard to put containment lines in place ahead of unfavourable conditions on Saturday and Sunday.
RFS Shoalhaven District Officer Bradley Collins said the fire had now burnt 1665 hectares of land and was not under control.
“Firefighters have taken advantage of favourable weather conditions to establish containment lines around the fire,” he said.
“[Friday’s] focus will be on the area around Carriage Road and Kingiman Road. Firefighters will continue to monitor the rest of the fireground throughout the day.”

What we know so far:
- 300 firefighters are on the ground and 100 will work throughout the night.
- A community meeting held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre tonight heard that the cause of the fire is unknown.
- NSW RFS have advised that all schools should be able to be open on Wednesday morning. It is not expected that any schools will be under threat.
- The Ulladulla Civic Centre is being used as an evacuation centre for those impacted in Burrill Lake / Kings Point area.
- Milton Showground is being used as an evacuation centre for those with livestock and large animals.
- RFS have confirmed a shed has been lost in the fires.
- Fire and Rescue NSW crews are set up in Kings Point for property protection. Residents hope their homes will be spared.

UPDATE, 5.40pm: Fire crews are undertaking backburning on the fire.
UPDATE, 4.30pm: The Kingiman fire has now burnt 1156 hectares of land west of Ulladulla.
The fire is moving in a south-easterly direction towards Burrill Lake under strong north-westerly winds. Spot fires are occurring ahead of the main fire fire front.
The fire is likely to move to the north throughout the afternoon towards Croobyar.
UPDATE, 3.30pm: A community meeting will be held at Ulladulla Civic Centre tonight at 6.30pm regarding Kingiman fire west of Ulladulla.
The fire is burning intensely and quickly, threatening property.
Two caravan parks were evacuated, the Wairo Beach Holiday Park and Burrill Pines.
UPDATE, 3pm: The fire is now bring fought from air, land, and now the lake.
An SES boat has taken firefighters onto Burrill Lake to attack the fire from the water.
The fire is expected to reach the western banks of the lake within the hour.
UPDATE, 11.50am: Fire and Rescue NSW Duty Commander Inspector John Moore said the fire is still being wind-drive.
“There are dusts of up to 100 km/ph,” he said.
“This fire behaviour for this time of year is unusual and we are having trouble getting resources into the wind affected areas.”
Insp Moore confirmed one shed had been lost in the fire.
“We haven’t been able to access the area to assess the properties,” he said.
“We have strike teams on the way from Sydney.
“The likelihood of bringing this fire under control … it will be sometime before that occurs.
“The forecast if for the wind strength to increase, and there will be a wind [direction] change.”
Homes have been evacuated on Hobbs Lane, Evans Lane and Woodstock Road.
“There is another street we are having a look at now,” Insp Moore said.
The fire is spotting up to 5 kilometres from the fire front, he said.
“The fire is spotting unusually long distances. The priority is to get the people out and put property protection in place.”

UPDATE, 10am: There are reports a home has been lost at the Kingiman Road fire, west of Ulladulla.
UPDATE, 9.35am: It is now too late to leave Burrill Lake.
Residents in the area of Kings Point and areas west of Burrill Lake and Ulladulla are advised to seek shelter in a solid structure as the fire impacts.
Under these conditions, fires are uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast-moving.

UPDATE, 9.20am: Kings Point residents are next to be evacuated. Water bombing helicopters are now in the air.
UPDATE, 9.05am: Residents east of Burrill Lake are being urged to evacuate now. Safest option is to head north to Ulladulla.
UPDATE, 8am: Properties on Woodstock Road are under threat. There are several spot fires burning in the vicinity and people are being evacuated.
The fire is currently 100 hectares and is burning out of control.
It is moving in a south easterly direction towards Burrill Lake under strong north westerly winds.

Embers will be blown up to 6km ahead of the fire, creating spot fires that will move quickly and in different directions.
These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.
If you are in doubt or it is not safe to leave, take shelter in a solid structure when the fire front arrives. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. If you are caught in the path of the fire, you may die or be injured.
An evacuation centre is being set up at the Milton Showground.

EARLIER: RFS and Fire and Rescue NSW crews are at the scene of an out of control fire west of Ulladulla.
An emergency warning has been issued for the fire, which has burnt 100 hectares.
The fire on Kingiman Road, Croobyar, started on Sunday afternoon, but was controlled by National Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters.
However, overnight on Tuesday, August 14, the fire flared out of control.
By Wednesday morning thick smoke was blanketing nearby suburbs of Burrill Lake, Dolphin Point and Ulladulla.
A road block was put in place about 8am the intersection of Corks Lane and Croobyar Road, Milton redirecting traffic away from the fire.
More resources are being put into the fire. A helicopter is on the scene.
