THE Culburra Amateur Fishing Club were very lucky to have a beautiful day on Sunday for their August fishing competition, after Saturday was blown out.

They had 13 people fish this month, with two of them juniors – seven of those fished beach, rock and estuary, as the six others were deep sea.

A small total of 41 fish made the scales, with Vince Henebery weighing-in the most (seven) and Gavin Woolmer and the heaviest at 2.34kg drummer.

The deep sea section was won by Vince Henebery, from Brian Smith and James Paterson, as Gavin Woolmer, Arthur Bowles and Scott Danvers were the top three in deep sea.

Madyline Daldy edged out Liam McLoughlin for the junior honours.

Fish caught this month included bream, salmon, leather jacket, luderick, morwong, flathead, wrasse, snapper, red rock cod, trevally and tarwhine.

The club’s next weigh-in is September 2.
