That’s what you can experience later this month at the Bundanon Trust’s Riversdale property as Genevieve Lacey, Jane Gower and Lars Ulrik Mortensen delight audiences.
Lacey, Mortensen and Gower are the crème de la crème of period musicians, specialising in recorder, piano and bassoon respectively.
Individually they have been awarded and recognised nationally and internationally. Combined they have an unparalleled depth of appreciation for period instruments.
Genevieve Lacey is a recorder virtuoso.
She’s played for the Queen in Westminster Abbey, represented Australia as a cultural ambassador at the Lindau International Convention of Nobel Laureates, performed as a concerto soloist in the Proms, in prisons and communities in remote Australia, and at the opening night of the London Jazz Festival.
We promise, she sounds nothing like a 12-year-old you did learning to play London Bridge on recorder.
Lars Ulrik Mortensen works extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the world.
He is also active as a conductor, exclusively of period instrument ensembles.
He is artistic director of both Concerto Copenhagen and the European Union Baroque Orchestra.
He has received multiple prizes and distinctions, among them Denmark’s most prestigious music award, the Léonie Sonning Music Prize.
Jane Gower specialises on historical bassoons and is principal bassoonist of many European period instrument orchestras.
She also regularly tours with the acclaimed Australian Chamber Orchestra.
An active chamber musician and director, in 1999 she founded the classical quartet island.
Genevieve Lacey, Jane Gower and Lars Ulrik Mortensen will perform at the Riversdale property on Sunday, August 26.
