Tuesday social results were 1st Ken Smart & John Smith, good to see John back after his foot operation still won’t be able to call him speedy though, 2nd was Todd Marsden & Bob Webster, 3rd was Gerry Webster & JJ Martin the $4oo jackpot spin was by Keith Beresford & Steve Helson unsuccessful as was the ½ jackpot by Ian Woodgate & Eric Lane, Thursday social was won by Terry Masling & Todd Marsden 2nd was Steve Fuller & Derek Chapman, 3rd was Gerry Webster & Eric Lane the jackpot spin was by Terry Masling & Todd Marsden, the ½ by Gerry Webster & Eric Lane both unsuccessful we also had 2 rinks where we played the ladies number 1 pennant side as practice for this weeks state championships at the Entrance and we wish them good fortune. Saturday’s social saw the Veterans Singles combination of Bob Webster, Barry Scott & marker Mike Winnem take 1st prize, 2nd was Max Wright & Ron Young while Elaine Preston & Darren Leary took 3rd. The Jackpot Spin was by Bob Webster, Barry Scott & Mike Winnem unsuccessful. In the first round of the Veterans Singles there were a number of forfeits leaving just 2 rinks, Bob Webster defeated Barry Scott 25/14 & Noel Duff defeated Allan Kimpton in a marathon 25/21, on Sunday the 2nd round of the veterans saw Bob Webster defeat Noel Duff 25/14, Todd Marsden couldn’t get over Derek Chapman and went down in another marathon 24/25 after having needed only 1 shot for a number of ends, Gerry Webster defeated Phil Reid 25/8 and Pepi Jakus had a good win over Rick McLachlan 25/22, a big thankyou to all the markers. Next Saturday the Semi Finals of the Veterans will be Bob Webster up against Derek Chapman & Gerry Webster against Pepi Jakus. Upcoming events are our visit to Woonona and there are still places available for anyone interested , and on Saturday 18th we have our pennant appreciation day.
Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen Men
A week of nice sunny days with blustery Westerly winds made bowling challenging. Wednesday saw 32 players, enjoying a clear, cool day with blustery Westerly winds. This saw one, Round 2 match of Club Triples Championship as well as two games of Social Pairs and four games of Social Triples. Saturday witnessed 26 players competing in another Round 2 match of the Club Triples Championship as well as two games of Mixed Social Triples and two of Mixed Social Pairs. Welcome to our new Club Member, Tony Mikus.
Wednesday 1st August a warm, sunny afternoon with a blustery Westerly wind. The medium paced greens ran smoothly.
Rink 8 observed Paul Takac, Alan Morrissey and Graham Eyre devastate their opposition by 23 to 13 shots.
Rink 9 saw our first Pairs game where John Newbold and Ray Solway had to use all their considerable skill to get home by just 1 shot at 22 to 21.
Rink 10 In the Club Triples Championship match, Gary Thurston, Mick Edwards (subbing for Dooley Gould) and Peter Smith were 18 all on the penultimate end with the team of John O’Dell, John Black and Dave Milne. Due to some fantastic bowling, Gary Thurston, Mick Edwards and Peter Smith won the last end and the match by a shot, 19 to 18.
Rink 11 this next game of Social Pairs witnessed another close game with Roy Cartledge and Eddy Lee hanging on from a fast finishing opposition to win by 18 to 17 shots.
Rink 12 in a lopsided game Max Stevens, Joe Wright and John Mac played superb bowls to win by 28 shots to 19.
Rink 13 In our last game of Triples, Tommy Smith, Ian Abberley and Alessandro Lattanzio played impeccable bowls to overwhelm their opposition by 23 to 15 shots.

Saturday 4th August was a cool, clear day with a swirling Westerly wind. Thanks to the Green Keepers for preparing the Greens perfectly.
Rink 1 saw Matthew Rosina, Alan Morrissey and Norma Yee far too experienced for their opposition as they out played them by 29 shots to 10.
Rink 3 in our match of the Club Triples Championship, Tommy Smith, Alan Rose and Tim McCormack had too many big guns for Ian Abberley, Roy Cartledge and Ray Solway and moved into the next round by 37 to 16 shots.
Rink 5 was an exciting game with Pat and John Black one shot behind going into the last end, bowling an amazing 2 shot end to take the game, 17 shots to 16. It had been a close tussle all game.
Rink 6 saw Paul Goddard and Allan Furniss play some wonderful bowls to win by 23 shots to 18.
Rink 7 This game of Triples was won due to some excellent bowling by Phill Rimmer, Pat Leach and John Mac. The final score being 18 to 16 shots

CLUB MAJOR / MINOR PAIRS 4TH AUGUST 2018 SEMI FINALS: Phil Carrett & Craig McGale 23 def 17 Mark Englert & Roy Burke. Alan Liebert & Stephen Munce 23 def 19 John Castellan & Brendon Hughes. Both Games came down to the last few ends to provide the winner. Carrett & McGale led 17 to 16 after 18 ends ,then nailed 5 shots on the 19th end to break the game open and run out 6 shot winners . In the other semi final Castellan & Hughes led 15 to 5 after 11ends to then fall behind 16 to 15 after 16 ends. Liebert & Munce then completed the victory with a final 3 shot margin. Both games provided plenty of good shot making ends to keep those watching enthralled to the very end. The final shapes up to be another close contest. Good luck to both teams

Callala
The final of the men’s Minor Singles was played on Saturday, August 4, in sunny but windy conditions on a fast green. Both Pauli Kennedy and Phill Bowerman started well with the score 3 all on the 3rd end and 8 all on the 7th end. Pauli won the next 6 ends to lead 18 – 8 on the 13th end. Phill fought back to be within one shot of Pauli, on the 19th end, 18 – 19. The game ended on the 27th with Pauli Kennedy the 2018 Minor Singles winner, 32 – 20. A fantastic game to watch, congratulations to both players.
The ladies had a training session on Tuesday, July 31. We would like to welcome three new ladies to bowls.
Culburra Women
A lovely sunny day last Tuesday saw our Social ladies out in force. The winners were Dawn Neville, Joy Hanneman and Annette Lapins over Leanne Wallis, Carol Turton and Sandra Annetts, Maree Guilfoyle, Eileen Hunter and June Jones over Ruby Salmon, Eliza Gunn and Thelma Cooley, Margaret Gilchrist and Trish Bailey over Narrelle Wetsteyn and Helen Neilsen, and Tracey Smith, Annette Barry and Lorraine Epple had a draw with Anne Dwyer, Trish Tom and Elaine Turner.
Four Culburra teams played in the Huskisson triples last week, with everyone thoroughly enjoying a wonderful day of friendship and competition. Congratulations to Ruby Salmon, Trish Bailey and Helen Neilsen on taking out the PM prize.
Only 2 games were played on Thursday, but from the laughter on the greens, everyone was having great fun. Winners were Margaret Gilchrist and June Jones over Narrelle Wetsteyn and Lorraine Epple, and Edna Baxter, Carol Turton and Marea Challender over Dawn Neville, Ruby Salmon and Joy Hanneman.
Berry Men
Saturday 4th August saw another match in the Clubs 2018 Major Triples played and after taking the lead on end 11 Terry Bezant, Mark Power and Ben Watson went on to defeat Col Good, David Badger and Adam Rigney 22-15.
Social play on Wednesday 1st August saw the following competitive pairs matches played. Brian Povey and Peter Webb after a slow start took over mid game and went on to defeat Brian Vickary and Derek Raymond, Phil Chittick and Col Good were being well beaten mid match and then hit form over the closing seven ends to defeat Geoff Lidbetter and Terry Hayes. In other games Bob Dunn and Nick Nicholls accounted for Tom Froggatt and David Lambert and Peter Haddon and Rob Folkard on the day out played Bill Chittick and Barry Dunn.
Geoff Lidbetter and Terry Hayes represented the SCDBA and Berry in the Zone State Senior Pairs at Bega on Sunday 5th August and were defeated by one shot by the team from Bombala.
Nowra Men
Social Bowls Wednesday 1st August. We had 4 rinks of pairs. Winners were Alan Bradley and Max Legge. Runners up being Ian McKinnon and Darren Draper. Jackpot $1200 Darren Draper had a go for the Jackpot but missed out. Rink Results: Rink 10 Ian McKinnon and Darren Draper had a 30/22 win against James Hayward and Bob O’Grady. Rink 11 Graeme Price and Cliff Edwards beat Frank Larter and Ken McMillan 29/17. Rink 12 Alan Bradley and Max Legge had a close win against Len Williams and Eddy Galley 23/21. Rink 13 Brian Pritchard and Bill Toohey had a 4 shot win over Terry Gray and Dave Platt 24/20.
Social Bowls Friday 3rd August. We had 7 Rinks of Pairs. Winners were Denis Thorpe and Ian Woodgate. Runners up being B Hollands and M Mitchell. Jackpot $1200 Ian Woodgate had a go for the Jackpot but missed out. Rink Results: Rink 8 T Kinnear-M Snell beat B McMahon-D Platt 20/15. Rink 9 T Reksmiss-C Cattell beat J Ireland-R Coulthart 23/13.
