ULLADULLA’S wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Gilkes was the shining light for his Desert Blaze side, as they went down by 29 runs to the City Cyclones, in the final of the Northern Territory Strike League on Sunday.

The Cyclones batted first at Marrara Oval one and posted 9/261, thanks to 125 from Joshua Doyle.
In response, the Blaze were all out for 232 in the 47th over, with Doyle claiming 4/62 from his 10 overs with the white ball.
The Ulladulla United Cricket Club product, who last season played with UNSW in Sydney, led the way for the Blaze on a disappointing day for his side – top scoring with 48 runs from 61 balls, including six boundaries, while also taking two catches behind the stumps.
During his 10 matches for the Blaze during the season, which involved both T20 and 50 over matches, Gilkes scored a total of 160 runs, at an average of just under 23 runs, while taking seven catches.
He has claimed two assisted run-outs and one stumping.
