FORMER Bay and Basin cricketer Jono Hill has been announced as the captain of the Philippine national team, for their upcoming International Cricket Council T20 regional qualifer.

The match, which will be played at Friendship Oval, will take place between December 1 and 9.
Hill has been a member of the Filipino squad since 2013 and was one of their top performers at the last ICC competition in Bendigo last year.
Hill, who becomes the first Filipino national to hold the role, will take over the captaincy from Syed Tariq Ali – who spent five years in the position.
