The State Library of NSW has a wealth of material for people engaged in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family history research.
Connecting Culture: Tracing Ancestors is a family history research workshop run by the library’s Indigenous Services team.
It outlines resources and strategies that may assist you in your research, including:
- techniques to search the library’s collections
- discussion of significant collections held at the library relating to the local area
- tips for using other important resources for Aboriginal family history research.
It includes a question and answer session with the Indigenous Services team and a workshop with practical guidance for using resources. The Local Heritage librarian runs monthly information sessions and presentations on local history and family history. August’s presentations feature a session on the history of Greenwell Point, and how to deal with missing records when searching for relatives.
