Many years have passed since those glory days when they were prepared to put their bodies on the line for each other.
Their bodies have aged but the bond is still fresh.
They gathered on Saturday at Francis Ryan Oval, Sanctuary Point for a reunion and they hugged, swap stories, laughed and just enjoyed seeing each other.
Their 40th anniversary was celebrated on Saturday while the boys cheered on the 2018 Crookhaven side when it played Wreck Bay at Sanctuary Point in front of a huge crowd of fans.
The team of 1978 formed a guard of honour for the current Crookhaven side and it was just one of the many great moments of the reunion.
It was good to see the “old” Crookhaven boys meet up with their former arch-rivals from Wreck Bay who also formed the guard of honour.
On the field, these two teams were fierce rivals but on Saturday the Crookie and the Wreckie boys were pleased to see each other and the affection and respect they had for each other were obvious.
Well done boys.
