A 17-year-old Nowra boy charged over the glassing of another teenager at Culburra Beach in October last year has failed in an attempt to have his jail sentence reduced.

Magistrate David Williams sentenced the teenager to a 15-month jail term in Port Kembla Children’s Court on June 26 finding him guilty of causing grievous bodily harm by an unlawful act.
Police claim between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on October 21 last year at Culburra Beach the teenager struck another boy, who was with a group of friends at a campfire on the beach, with a bottle before punching him repeatedly in the face.
The injured boy was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital, suffering a suspected fractured jaw.
The teenager appealed the severity of the sentence in Wollongong District Court on Friday, with Judge John Pickering dismissing the appeal, ordering the youth remain behind bars for 15-months from June 29.
He set a non-parole period of five months.
