Around 40 exhibitors engaged with the youths to explore career options, study paths and work placements.
High school students of today will likely have jobs that don’t even exist yet, or multiple careers over the course of their working life.
This is a reality Shoalhaven Careers Expo facilitator Leanne Windsor hopes the expo will help address.
“It is definitely difficult [for students to make career choices] given how quickly things change,” she said.
“They are going to have multiple careers, so they need to be equipped for that, learning and choosing subjects for a future which is so unknown.”
Nowra Christian School students Alyssa Smart and Libby Yusuf said the expo opened their eyes to options they were not aware were available, such as VET courses and early entry options.
“We can go to our teachers and ask for certain courses,” Alyssa said.
