This Sunday, the Gorillas must play in yet another top of the table clash against Kiama, and, remarkably, they could be set for a third-straight top of the table clash with Gerringong next weekend.
Such is the close nature of the Group Seven competition, the Gorillas are forced to defend their status as competition front-runners on a weekly basis.
For captain/coach Aaron Henry, this challenging period is a way to gauge where the team is at midway through the season.
“Just like the start of the year, we have a tough month with all the top sides in a row,” Henry said.
“It doesn’t get any easier after last week, but playing these top sides gives us a good indication of where the team is at and where we need to be come the back end of the season.”
The Gorillas recorded a comfortable 32-4 victory over the Knights in round two of this season, but Henry is preparing his side for a much improved Kiama on Sunday afternoon.
“We need to complete our sets and make our tackles, they’ve improved a fair bit since that first game in round two and they’ve got a few players back, so they’re going to be a bit of a handful.”
In other games this weekend, Jamberoo host Albion Park-Oak Flats and the Stingrays play Milton-Ulladulla.
Shellharbour will be out to bounce back from last week’s loss when they face Berry Shoalhaven Heads and Gerringong take on Nowra-Bomaderry.
