Events and Hospitality students teamed up with Commercial Cookery students to run a golf themed evening as a way of putting their skills to the test in a real-life event situation.
This year was the fourth time the TAFE NSW Nowra students and teachers had co-hosted the event with Superheroes Events Limited.
Shoalhaven Superheroes Festival founder David Arakie said the organisation was appreciative and always impressed with the students’ involvement.
“It was another very enjoyable evening attended by 100 guests including Mayor Amanda Findley,” Mr Arakie said.
“On the night $340 was raised through the car raffle tickets and the recently-launched Buy a Brick Campaign. There were plenty of people, including the Australian Ladies Professional Golfers (ALPG) dressed up in superhero costumes on the night.
“TAFE NSW Nowra has been a fantastic supporter of Shoalhaven Superheroes Festival events,” Mr Arakie said.
The launch party preceded the inaugural 2018 Shoalhaven Superheroes Premier’s Cup & Shoalhaven Superheroes ALPG Rush Nowra Golf Charity Tournament. $30,000 in sponsorship was raised from outside the Shoalhaven for the Nowra Golf Tournament, which had a $15,000 ALPG Purse and $17,000 Charity Purse.
Superheroes Events Limited is looking to raise $250,000 for a potential Ronald McDonald House Charities Shoalhaven Family Facility at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.
Over $40,000 has been raised so far.
