The Block’s Neale Whitaker’s Berry home comes complete with ‘Bill’

Television personality and The Block judge Neale Whitaker is moving the Berry.

The design guru, together with his partner David Novak-Piper have purchased a home on 2.5 acres at 71 Bundewallah Road, Bundewallah, for a reported $1.8 million.

Located less than 3km from the Berry township, the renovated three/four bedroom, two bathroom, north facing cottage takes in breathtaking views of Woodhill Mountain – the ranges separating Berry from Jamberoo and Kangaroo Valley.

Bundewallah is a sought after location, unique for its no through road and position in a small valley within walking distance of the Berry township.

The property last exchanged hands in July 2014, when it sold for $815,000.

Selling agent Kimberley Clarke of Raine & Horne Berry, said the property was on the market only a short while before it was sold on May 4.

“It's got the most gorgeous views,” she said.

“Neale and David are over the moon, they have holidayed here for the last 10 years – they love Berry and in particular Bundewallah Road.

“Properties don’t come up very often on that road, so when it did I rang them to tell them it was on the market.

“Neale was busy and so he sent David down to see it and he fell in love with it.”

Mrs Clarke said the couple would make Berry their permanent base and keep a one bedroom unit in the city.

The South Coast Register understands the property was owned by James Carroll, from Lifestyle program Village Vets Australia.

Caroll and his wife had renovated the home, maintaining much of its original features and charm.

“The previous owners did a beautiful job to give it facelift, it's as neat as a pin,” Mrs Clarke said.

The sale also includes ‘Bill’ the pony, who appears to have secured himself a lifetime tenancy.

“Bill is an older horse who is joining the Whitaker and Novak-Piper family,” Mrs Clarke said.

“He will be known as Bill Luke from now on – he will be one very spoilt horse.”

Mrs Clarke said the property market remained strong in Berry.

"Since the bypass has gone in, it has made it a destination town,” she said.

“It’s quick to get to now, people moving from Sydney are commuting, they say it can take two hours to get from one side of Sydney to the other anyway.

“There has been a slight decline in prices, but if people are wanting to sell they will get a buyer.”

The last sale record for Bundewallah Road was set in May 2017, when 246 Bundewallah Road sold for 3.45 million.
