Kangaroo Valley Cheese Makers are offering two hands on workshops, which you can enjoy with your family and friends and the best part is, you will have scrumptious cheese to take home at the end of the day.
Valley Cheese Makers’ Kathy Harrington said participants can expect an enjoyable, creative and satisfying day.
“Some of the simple cheeses – ricotta, quarg and halloumi – can be eaten straight away,” she said.
“Participants will also have a complete set of notes and recipes on the cheeses they have made along with information on where to source cheese making materials.
“More than anything the process of cheese making will be demystified for them.”
Mrs Harrington said the workshops were becoming more and more popular.
“Since beginning our workshops two years ago and starting up our Facebook page and blog we have had a huge increase in inquiries and comments from the local area and places further afield such as Sydney and Canberra,” she said.
“We try to emphasis the idea of slow foods using home cheese making as an example. And we are very keen that people maintain the basic skills of cheese making so that they will consider entering the cheese and dairy section of the Kangaroo Valley Show.
“For the 2018 Kangaroo Valley Show we had more than 50 entries including, for the first time, some junior entrants.”
Participants will have the choice of two workshops on Saturday, June 16.
A white mould workshop where participants learn how to make cows milk brie and camembert, as well as a soft goats cheese and limited spaces are still available for a basic cheese making workshop.
All equipment, notes, lunch and morning/ afternoon tea will be provided.
