Last week, the Bureau of Meterology predicted a 70-80 per cent chance of below average rainfall for winter, but parts of the coast received a downpour the weekend.
Jervis Bay’s Pt Perpendicular weather station measured a huge 46.8mm of rain from Friday to Monday morning.
The average rainfall for Jervis Bay for the month of May was 71.8mm. With rain expected to continue until Thursday, Jervis Bay may be closer to reaching last month’s average after just one week.
Kiama received 11.2mm of rain from Saturday to Monday morning while Nowra had 3.4mm from Sunday to Monday morning.
Last month’s average rainfall for Kiama and Nowra was 23mm and 21.8mm, respectively.
Ulladulla received 4.4mm of rain from Saturday to Monday morning. The rain is supposed to ease by Thursday before light showers are expected to return on Friday.
In June last year average rainfall for Nowra was 77mm, 16.2mm for Kiama and 87.4mm for Ulladulla.
Rainfall between four and 15mm is expected along the coast on Tuesday and Wednesday, with overnight temperatures falling as low as two degrees celsius. Top temperatures of 17 degrees celsius are expected until Thursday, before warming slightly with tops of 19 expected through to Saturday.
