Sienna Clarke, at the tender age of 12, became the youngest player ever to claim the prestigious title, in the club’s proud history.
The event, held over three rounds, saw competitors compete in stroke play format, with the overall winner and club champion being awarded to the lowest individual score over the three rounds.
Clarke finished with round scores of 100, 96 and 93 on the tough par 72 course layout.
This return ended up giving her a nine stroke victory from her closest rival, to hand her her first ever club championship.
Prior to the tournament, Clarke was playing off a 36 Golf Australia handicap in division three, but within the space of a month, she has dropped a massive 17 shots, to enter the tournament with an impressive 19 handicap.
“The massive drop in handicap and championship success was due to many hours of dedicated practice, hard work and improved maturity on the course,” Vincentia Golf Club professional and proud father Justin Clarke said.
“She should be very proud of her achievement”.
When asked on how it how feels to be a club champion, Sienna Clarke went on to say ‘it feels great to be the club champion and achieve a personal goal of mine.’
Clarke continued saying “As good as the club championship win was, I really enjoy assisting and encouraging new junior golfers to the sport – it would be great to see more junior girls out there on the course with me on a Sunday.”
