A few prangs this week highlights the continuing need for safe driving practices on our roads.
It’s all been said before, we need to be careful while driving our one-ton weapons about the place. Your life or the life of a loved one can be gone in moments. It’s not a myth it’s a reality.
The other week I had the pleasure of driving to Sydney so I can get stuck in the traffic once I got there.
At the start of the trip, I drove along the 80kph zone between Bomaderry and Berry which is an 80 zone at the moment for the road works. Many cars passed me going at least 100kph or even more.
There is no excuse for speeding at any time.
Be warned. If you speed you will get caught. Maybe not today, but at some point, you will feel the pain of having to fork out hundreds of dollars on paying an infringement notice or worse, paying a solicitor to act on your behalf in court because you were at fault for a fatal prang.
Scams
If someone came up to you in the street and said, “hello, can I have your credit card details or I will cut off your internet” would you give this person your details?
What about if someone came up to you and said, “your computer needs fixing, I need your personal details and password so I can fix it”.
Would you give up the details? Of course, you wouldn’t. It’s obvious, the person is a stranger. Why would you give your details to a stranger?
Believe it or not this scenario plays out more times than we know. It may not be a person approaching on the street, it is usually a person ringing on the phone.
You should not give any person your details at all unless you are 100 per cent sure of the person’s bona fides. There are scammers out there praying on people, using smooth talk and even threats to get at your information.
If you are contacted by people purporting to be from banks or your telco or any other business, do not give out your details.
These businesses should already have your details if they are genuine. As soon as you stop reading this superbly written and topical article, get on the Google net, type in scam watch and have a read of the types of scams that are getting about. Educate yourself and don’t become a victim.
That’s all the excitement for this week.
