Currently one of the most popular television shows for preschoolers around the world, the new stage show production features Peppa, George, and their friends in an all-singing, all-dancing adventure.
Emma Grace Arends who plays the role of “Daisy”, said audiences can expect a high energy, fun family packed show, full of singing, dancing and games.
“The audience is encouraged to get involved – joining in with eye spy, learning dances to keep you fit and singing along with all your favourite songs like the Bing Bong Song,” she said.
“If you’re sitting close to the front get your boots ready to join in with splashing in those muddy puddles.”
Ms Arends thinks children enjoy believing the magical world of Peppa Pig.
“Peppa Pig is a very simple but effective concept of an animal family environment,” she said.
“They do every day activities the children can relate to, like swimming lessons or going to school.
“Children love animals and the fact they make funny noises like ‘oinking’. Peppa and her family have their own pet called ‘Polly Parrot’ to make it even more fun and enjoyable.”
“Peppa herself is a cheeky little four-year-old that has fun with her friends and is a typical big sister to George.”
Ms Arends enjoys seeing the wide variety of families attend the live theatre performances.
“Most of these children haven’t experienced live performances before, so we have to make it extra special for them so they will want to come back to the theatre and experience it again and again. They might one day become a performer themselves,” she said.
“When Peppa first comes onto the stage (after playing hide and seek) all the children usually scream in excitement!
“Peppa is like The Beatles to them and it’s such a great feeling on stage to be able to be a part of that excitement for them.”
Ms Arends, who is from the north of England, comes from a large family.
“When I first got into Peppa Pig, I was by far the favourite aunty,” she said.
“My youngest niece and nephew, who are still young enough for Peppa, still think I’m cool Aunty Emma.
“I’m a little northerner through and through, but then moved to London at 16 and trained at Arts Educational School. My sister Elizabeth is also an actress out in LA and my cousins are actors in London so maybe something runs in the family.”
Ms Arends has played the role of Daisy in Peppa Pig’s Surprise, Peppa Pig’s Big Splash and more recently ‘Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience.
She has also played Princess Tamara in Sleeping Beauty, Juliet in Romeo And Juliet, Hermia / Snug in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hero / Borachio in Much Ado About Nothing, Cariola in The Duchess Of Amalfi, Kristy in Excess Baggage, Freya in Rudolf On Hope Street, Young Helen Forrester in Twopence To Cross The Mersey, Lottie Gibson in By The Beautiful Sea, Molly in Florence Nightingale and Sniffer in Her Benny.
“With my sister living in LA now my parents are so worried I’m going to absolutely love Australia and not return,” Ms Arends said.
“I have to admit I can’t fault Australia as yet, I’m absolutely loving it!”
Originating in the UK, the Peppa Pig live stage show is an international success with productions in Spain, Italy and Latin America.
The first US Peppa Pig live stage show opened in Autumn 2015 and has been a huge hit across the States.
