The Tigers, who currently sit in fourth place with a 5-4 record, have already defeated the Yowies this season – 87-79 on April 24 at Queanbeyan Basketball Stadium – a victory that will give Ozolin’s troops confidence going into the clash.
“We can take plenty of confidence from our last match with the Yowies, as well as our win last weekend against Canberra,” Ozolins said.
“The Yowies, with their mix of youth and experience, are always a team to watch and they themselves have beaten Canberra recently, so we know it’s not going to be a straight forward game.
“The keys to beating them will be putting pressure on their guards to force turnovers and controlling the glass – which will help other aspects of our game.”
Ozolins also hopes that his team can learn from last week, where they nearly gave up a 21 point lead against the Gunners – winning by just five.
“If we do get in front of teams, we need to be able to push on and not let them back into it – it’s a mental block that the boys need to push through,” he said.
Tip-off is Saturday 5pm at the Den.
The other Tigers team in action this weekend is Scott Balsar’s division two youth men’s side, who will travel to the Mount Annan Leisure Centre to battle the Camden Valley Wildfire from 4.30pm Saturday.
Ken Arthur’s division one women’s side have the bye.
