The 48-year-old, who has claimed more than 100 medals during her illustrious career, was recognised by for her commitment to the sport, by taking out the prestigious Marcus Tooley Spirit of Masters Award, at the recent New South Wales Masters Athletics awards ceremony in Sydney.
“I’m so happy to have won this award – you can’t wipe the smile off my face,” Suffolk said.
“The whole ceremony was incredible and to win the award I did is amazing – it’s right up there for personal achievements in my career.”
At the ceremony, Suffolk also received a certificate recognising that she now holds the NSW Masters Athletics record for 8km cross country – with her time of 32:35.
Suffolk is now in training for the Cross Country World Masters Championships in September.
