Dorothy Britton, a 48-year-old mother of three, was found dead at her Whitsundays home with a gunshot wound in March 1996.
Queensland homicide detectives believe those responsible for the cold-case murder remain on the run and are calling on witnesses to come forward.
"In recent days inquiries have been conducted in South Australia and north Queensland and investigators encourage anyone with any information to come forward," Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Knight said.
"Now is the time."
The state government is offering a $250,000 reward for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
