Shoalhaven children had the chance to know what it’s like to sit in the driver’s seat of a fire truck at the annual Fire and Rescue NSW open day.

On Saturday, the Berry and Nowra fire stations were open to the public from 10am to 2pm.
Each station’s crews were on board to show visitors around the fire station, offer fire education and prevention tips, and to also give children the chance to blast the fire hose and see firefighting equipment up close.
Berry 224 retained firefighter Luke Bramley said the day offered residents a chance to meet their local firefighters and an opportunity to learn about their different jobs, such as medical assistance, rescues and firefighting.
Mr Bramley was also rapt in the involvement of the public at Berry.
“It’s been good, steady, at the start we had an influx of families and its just been constant,” he said.
NSW Fire and Rescue Deputy Commissioner Malcolm Connellan visited the Berry station during the morning.
