Residents have been forced onto the narrow road because the council strip is too slanted, in parts, to traverse.
At Tuesday night’s strategy and assets meeting, Shoalhaven City Councillors unanimously voted in favour of building a footpath along Osborne Street between Hyam and North Streets.
Community spokesman Denis Hilaire said the block’s proximity to Nowra pool meant kids were running down the street, in danger of being hit by cars.
“An accident is going to happen at any moment, the footpath is undulating, weather-worn and not user-friendly,” he said.
“If you can spend millions on a pool, then you can spend a bit more on a footpath to get there.”
Cr Greg Watson added he had seen women pushing prams along the street.
The footpath will cost $50,000 to build, and will be taken from next year’s budget of $344,000 to go towards footpaths in the Shoalhaven.
