Smoke alarms were a saving grace for a household of Sanctuary Point residents, who woke up at 4.30am, to find their home was on fire.

They quickly evacuated onto Edmund Street and called 000.
Shoalhaven RFS fire crews from St Georges Basin, Basin View, Tomerong and Crossroads arrived and extinguished the blaze within an hour.
There was minor damage to one room and smoke damage to the roof cavity.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but due to the minimal damage there will be no investigation.
