In a tour, which also includes a five-match one-day series with England, Australia will play one T20 match in England on June 27 at Edgbaston, before a short tri-series in Zimbabwe, also featuring Pakistan.
The first T20 squad under the coaching reigns of Justin Langer will be captained by Aaron Finch, with Alex Carey as his vice-captain.
Maddinson will be joined in the squad by Ashton Agar, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, D’Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Mitchell Swepson and Jack Wildermuth – with this marking the first time the final two have been named in this squad.
This will mark the first time that Maddinson has played for the Australian T20 side since November 9, 2014, when they took on South Africa.
During his two international T20 matches in his career, Maddinson has scored 38 runs, with a high score of 34.
Maddinson recently signed a three-year deal with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
