The South Coast Soul Festival will kick-off on Friday at 4pm and includes a jam-packed three-day schedule.
There will be several sessions on mental health, fitness, sound healing, sustainable living, yoga and meditation throughout the festival, which managing director Natalie Childs hopes to become an annual event.
“It is about connection to the environment, about sustainable living and looking after Mother Earth and about connecting with like-minded people and ourselves,” she said.
“It is an event aimed at inspiring our ticket holders to be the best version of themselves. There will be a screening of a documentary called E-Motion, which is eye opening and makes you really think about your emotions.”
People from Sydney, Canberra and the South Coast had already purchased tickets to the event, which will be held at Moona Moona Creek and includes fire shows and live entertainment.
“We have a team of experts in different fields, such as yoga, sustainable living, mental health and fitness running sessions over the weekend,” Ms Childs said.
“We have Dan Conn giving a talk about linking fitness and health to benefit your mental health. He talks about finding that balance between fitness and health and using the breath, which is the quickest way to change our mindsets.”
The family-friendly event was about “finding your best self”, Ms Childs said, adding a sound healing session on Friday evening would allow attendees to find calm and clarity.
“You can feel the vibrations of the music and it is very beautiful. People find it healing,” she said.
Ms Childs said yoga had changed her life for the better.
“I hadn’t achieved anything before I started yoga, I didn’t even drive a car. Now I am setting goals and have started this festival,” she said.
“It has given me a lot of confidence and made me more patient.”
Ms Childs was positive the event would be a hit with the community.
“We need something in the Shoalhaven for the younger demographic. This event has something for everyone, all of the yoga classes are suitable for beginners and the teachers are very experienced,” she said.
“We have had a lot of interest from men as well. People tend to think that yoga is for women, but there are a lot of men who do yoga as well and there are a lot of benefits for men.”
