Among the group of 20, there were two chronic pain sufferers – one living with Parkinson's, the other living with cancer.
The wife of the man with Parkinson’s said the medication he takes gives him incredible pain, and cannabis has been a great source of pain relief for him.
‘Stand up for Cannabis’ event organiser Dee Ducat believes legalising cannabis would ease pressure on the health system.
“We know it works, we want to grow our own plants legally,” she said.
“Slowly more and more doctors are coming on board.
“It’s important to get the message out there that we want change for people who need it, for people with cancer, for people with epilepsy and Parkinson’s.”
The event was part of a worldwide day of pro-cannabis activism.
