
A NUMBER of the South Coast top surf prospects showed their class at the 2018 Junior Regional Titles on Sunday, held at Kiama’s Jones Beach.

Mollymook’s Sophia Fulton took out the under 18 girls, scoring a two-wave combined score of 17.16, to edge out Tahlia Collinge and Kirra Camilleri.
The under 18 boys event was taken out by Ulladulla’s Luke O’Connell from Kiama Downs’ Chae Conti, Broulee’s Harry Phillips, Culburra Beach’s Beau Buckpitt and Currarong’s Navryn Watson.
Ulladulla’s Charlize Tout took out the under 16s girls crown, with a score of 12.00, edging out Pambula’s Arabella Tarpey and Kiama pair Samara Cox and Ciara Philp-Rudd.
The highly competitive under 16s boys title was taken out by Gerringong’s Hayden Ward – with a score of 10.67.
Ward proved too strong for Bawley Point’s Archie Riddick, Narooma’s Phillip Davies and Lake Tabourie’s Jack Patterson in the final.
The under 14s girls decider went down to the wire, with Werri Beach’s Holly Wishart topping Culburra Beach’s Keira Buckpitt (11.90 to 11.50) in the decider.
The final also featured Kiama’s Clara Mcdonald and Gerringong’s Bronte Herft.
Kianga’s Matt Driscoll starred int he under 14s boys final, defeating Durras North’s Ariel Hutchinson and Kiama Downs pair Cooper Collinge and Lucas Larsen.
The final two events of the weekend were the under 12 girls and boys events, taken out by Gerringong’s Tiana Darragh and Lake Tabourie’s Koby Jackson respectively.
Darragh edged out rivals Lani Cairncross (Kiama Downs) and Keira Puckeridge (Bombo) for the title, while Jackson topped Dayan Conti (Kiama Downs), Dax Cairncross (Kiama Downs) and Jacob Puckeridge (Bombo) in the decider.
The successful athletes in the under 16s and under 18s will head to Coffs Harbour for the state titles from July 20-24, while the under 14s and under 12s will compete at Maroubra from July 27-29 – for a spot at the Australian Titles in South Australia.
