Played at Parramatta, Phillips started the under 10s tournament strongly in the group stage.
“Through my first five games, I went 6-0, 6-0,5-1, 5-1 and 3-3 – seeing me top my pool and progress to the finals,” Phillips said.
The Cambewarra Public student opened her finals assault with a 7-nil quarter-final win, moving her into the semi-finals – which she won 5-2 after trialling 2-1.
“In the final, I fell behind 2-1 before winning 5-2,” she said.
“I surprised myself to win the final – it’s the best tournament I’ve ever won.
“I’m very happy with the big trophy.”
This continues a busy year for the nine-year-old, who in January played for ACT at the National Super 10s in Melbourne, before recently winning the Jetts Challenge.
Phillips will next represent South Coast at the NSW PSSA Championships in Albury.
