However, unfortunately the spectacular fly-by was around 10 minutes after the service had concluded and was missed by a large percentage of the crowd.
But for those who saw it, it is something they will never forget.
And if you didn’t get to see it, you certainly heard it!
Good crowds again lined Junction Street to recognise veterans and current serving military personnel.
Along with a large contingent of school children, the parade marched to the Nowra War Memorial and gates.
The Nowra RSL Sub-Branch hosted the event, with president Fred Dawson acting as master of ceremonies.
Commanding officer of HMAS Albatross, Captain Fiona Sneath gave the keynote address at the Nowra service, highlighting the meaning of Anzac and mentioning the many different conflicts Australian service personnel have undertaken.
This was followed by a special service at the Nowra War Cemetery, which included the laying of a special wreath on the recently refurbished grave of Gallipoli veteran and perhaps the Shoalhaven’s highest decorated World War 1 veteran, Private Raymond Benson, MM (Military Medal), MiD (Mentioned in Despatches) and CC (Corps Complimentary).
