Held at the Naenae Bowling Club in Lower Hutt, New Zealand, Murphy’s team are competing against seven other eight licensees for a $100,000 prize pool.
The Lions opened day one with a 2-7 7-9 loss to the Melbourne Roys before backing it up against the Club Helensvale Gold Coast Hawks, winning 3-7 6-5 (0-4).
The Lions third match on day one was against the Moreton Bay Brisbane Pirates, losing 4-8 4-8.
Murphy’s side finished the first day off against New Zealand Blackjacks, winning 9-9 2-5.
