The local band performed at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre in the statewide Youth Rock Battle of the Bands competition on Saturday.
The Deafening Silence is Leon Holstegge drums, Melody Spencer keyboards/vocals, the energetic Nathan Simpson is on bass guitar and Aden Spencer guitar/ vocals.
Aden said they enjoyed the gig and added the crowd appreciated their music.
“It was an awesome event and a good learning experience for us,” Aden said.
The band had a 16 minute slot and performed three songs.
They did not win the competition but got $250 worth of PA (public address) equipment and will also get a song professionally recorded by a studio in the Central Coast.
“We will probably write a new song for the recording session,” Aden said
Leon is a Ulladulla High student, while Nathan, Melody and Aden all go to Nowra High.
Melody said they were a progressive rock band and Aden added they played a groovy form of music which had plenty of depth to it.
They all hope to make a career in the performing arts field.
