The local band will hit the stage tomorrow (Saturday, April 21) at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre in the statewide Youth Rock Battle of the Bands competition.
The Deafening Silence is Leon Holstegge drums, Melody Spencer keyboards/vocals, the energetic Nathan Simpson is on bass guitar and Aden Spencer guitar/vocals.
They auditioned about a month ago and Aden said they were happy to get picked.
“We are the only band from the Shoalhaven doing it,” Aden said.
Including ‘Corruption of the System’ (see video) the band will play all their own songs in the competition.
The band has a 16-minute slot to perform three songs.
The Deafening Silence has only been together for about two months but they are vastly talented and experienced musicians.
Leon is a Ulladulla High student, while Nathan, Melody and Aden all go to Nowra High.
Nathan said he super confident about The Deafening Silence’s chances of winning the battle of the bands.
“We are going to win - yeah,” Nathan yelled.
Melody said they were a progressive rock band and Aden added they played a groovy form of music which had plenty of depth to it.
They all hope to make a career in the performing arts field.
