The Shoalhaven Volkswagen Club is calling on South Coast residents to display their pride and joy at the Berry Blast from the Past event at Berry Showground on Sunday, May 6.
Volkswagen owners are encouraged to display their vehicles and help raise money for a local charity.
All funds raised on the day are donated to Can Assist – Cancer Assistance Network.
Can Assist provide support in the form of accommodation and financial assistance to people from rural and regional NSW.
This support helps to give country people more options and greater choice about their cancer treatment and care.
Last year’s event raised over $4000 for Can Assist through car entry fees, raffles and gold coin donations from spectators.
The Blast is described as a low key event with a relaxed atmosphere and a focus on community and family participation.
Held at the showground, the event coincides with both the Berry Country Fair and Shoalhaven Classic Motorcycle Club classic bike show.
More than 150 historic Volkswagen vehicles are expected to be on display including the classic Kombi, Beetle, Karmann Ghia and a vast range of Kombi campers covering several decades of production.
Vehicle entry is $20, gold coin donation for the public and gates open from 9am. People’s choice award and raffle draw will be held at 1pm.
“The Blast provides shopping opportunities, entertainment, food and distractions for the whole family,” a spokesman for the club said.
