Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen Men

No joke! Fine, cool weather provided ideal conditions for enjoying a game of bowls. Wednesday saw 32 players enjoying a warm, clear afternoon with a cooling zephyr from the south. Our nominated pairs had 10 teams while 2 games of Triples accounted for the rest. An overcast and cool afternoon on Saturday, with no Pennants, saw 24 players enjoying two games of Mixed Social Triples as well as three games of Pairs.
Wednesday 28th March was a fine, hot afternoon where the fast paced greens were great to play on.
Rink 1 Phill Rimmer, Paul Goddard and Dooley Gould played superb bowls to overcome their opposition by 26 shots to 18.
Rink 2 held the game of the week. Paul Takac, Bert Watson and Graham Eyre jumped the start with a sizzling six while Norm Schulz, Alan Morrissey and Terry Wright were just waking up. Norm, Alan and Terry woke up and replied the best way possible, by winning the next 5 ends to be leading by 10 shots to 6 on the 6th end. Paul, Bert and Graham finally got over the shock and won a few ends. Whenever they closed on the opposition, Norm, Alan and Terry would just put in that magnificent end to open the lead again. 12 to 11, then 13 all, followed by a jump to 15/13, Norm, Alan and Terry had all the answers till the 16th end. A terrific three had Paul, Bert and Graham back in the lead by 1. Norm, Alan and Terry dug deep and found their concentration to retake the lead by 18 to 17 on the 19th end only to see Paul, Bert and Graham win the penultimate end by a shot to tie the game at 18 all. It was anyone’s game from here. A golden point would win it! Paul Takac, Bert Watson and Graham Eyre kept their nerve and won the end and the game by 2 shots. What a screamer!
Rink 9 In another interesting game, Tommy Smith and Ray Solway were just too good for their opposition and thrashed them by 25 shots to 12.
Rink 10 held a ripper of a game with John O’Dell and Johnny Mac emerging as the victors at 24 to 16 shots.
Rink 11 In the next game of Pairs, Alan Rose and Alessandro Lattanzio played outstanding bowls to annihilate their opposition and win by 28 shots to 12.
Rink 12 saw an excellent game of Pairs with Bert Madge and Darryl Goodger playing incredible bowls to just get home by a 27 to 21 shots.
Rink 13 witnessed the Edwards brothers, Michael and John, play fantastic bowls to just hold on to the lead from a fast finishing opposition by 18 shots to 15.

Rink 5 David Solomon and Dave Milne played brilliant bowls to trounce their opposition by 22 shots to 11.
