Well aware some families travelled away for the long weekend, we were pleased the Stanley family took the opportunity while visiting the area to join the run/walk activity.
Victory Runners are also extremely proud to have Karlee Symonds join our ranks for the cross-country season. Fresh after her amazing success at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships, achieving 3 Gold Medals and a Bronze Medal, this vision-impaired young runner, who requires a guide runner to compete, is now keen to accept the challenge of running cross-country.
Karlee in her first run on April 1, was also first to cross the finish line, covering the 1km distance in just under five minutes. The example Karlee displays by not allowing her vision impairment to be an obstacle to achieving her goals, is a perfect example of Victory Runners philosophy.
The significance of choosing the name was based on a dictionary meaning for victory which is: “success in any contest or struggle which involves overcoming obstacles”.
The aim of Victory Runners is to offer a variety of distances to any one, of any age, or with any obstacle, to become involved in the activity of running or walking. Our goal is primarily to encourage, motivate and support members to achieve their personal goals, which for each individual can be considered a victory!
Previous experience being involved in running or walking is definitely not a requirement, just a desire to give it a go, or you may never know, what can be achieved.
Lucky Place Card draws for the chocolate blocks were won by Darcie Johnson and Kevyn Davis. Closest runner to the Secret Time was won by Neal Johnson who ran 14:11. The Secret time was the date 14:18 (1.4.18). Darcie & Neal will be awarded their sweet treats next Sunday.
Victory Runners look forward to meeting at Willandra on Sunday April 8, at 10am. New members always welcome. Further information please email: info@victoryrunners.com.au or ph: 4446 0226. Website: www.victoryrunners.com.au.
