This year marks 25 years of Bundanon Trust. It was formed in 1993, to fulfill the wishes of Arthur and Yvonne Boyd, who bought the Bundanon property with the intention of giving it to the nation as a cultural resource for future generations.
Tourism, education and community programs are Bundanon’s key services. The Homestead is a heritage listed building, where some of the Boyd collection is displayed. People come to experience these along with Arthur’s studio and stay on for a picnic in the grounds.
Bundanon hosts the largest artist-in-residence program in Australia which brings over 300 visitors from all over the world to the Shoalhaven each year. As an engine room of contemporary arts in Australia it has been woven into the cultural narrative.

Siteworks is a major event on the Shoalhaven arts calendar and regular concerts at the serene Riversdale site are an unforgettable experience. Around 8000 students will visit Bundanon in 2018 to take part in arts education at the Boyd Education Centre. This has grown from only 200 in the first year of operation.
“Arthur Boyd’s belief that ‘you can’t own a landscape’ is at the centre of our operations,” development officer Amanda Volpatti explained. “Events like Siteworks and Field Day draw on the property for inspiration while it makes a lifelong impact on education groups and artists in residency. The Trust is built on one of the country’s most significant cultural and natural gifts.”
