Hosted by Shoalhaven Heads/Berry at Vic Zealand Oval, Bomaderry started their campaign with a 4-nil forfeit victory against Wreck Bay, which was followed-up by 3-nil win against St Georges Basin.
The Dale Russell coached Tigers then defeated the Callala Brumbies 1-nil, Shoalhaven Heads/Berry 2-nil and Illaroo 1-nil.
The Tigers then progressed to the semi-final, where they defeated Heads 4-3 on penalties, after the match ended 1-all – the only goal they would concede in regulation the whole tournament.
In the final, Bomaderry proved too strong for Callala, winning 2-nil.
“The boys all played exceptional – I couldn’t fault any of the 16 players,” Russell said.
“It was great to see all the boys enjoying their football this early in the season.”
Bomaderry’s squad contained Brodie Chapman, Brad Bailey, Mark Newton, Dane Tasker, Tyler Buchan, Carl Lang, Andrew Kellett, Rob Bricklebank, Jyle Smith, Kevin Jackson, Tim Martin, Daniel Frew, Harry Frew, Tom Moffat and Brendan Kellett, with Dale Russell (coach) and Arther Smart (manager).
In the women’s competition, Shoalhaven Heads/Berry claimed the title, after defeating Illaroo 2-1 on penalties, after the scores finished at nil-all in the grand final.
This win followed strong victories against Bomaderry (4-nil) and St Georges Basin (4-nil), as well as a 1-nil loss to Illaroo.
